WEEKLY ROUNDUP March 11th to March 19th

WHAT WE'RE TALKING ABOUT THIS WEEK:

Health (National Cervical Screening Programme) Amendment Bill

Heyo. This bill is all about access: specifically, who gets to access the information on the cervical screening register and how they get this access. The change is aiming to move away from the old (old, old) process of faxing for permission to letting trained health professionals have direct access to the register. Take a look at the link above if you want to know more!

Education (Tertiary and Other Matters) Amendment Bill

Déjà vu - this bill is back! This bill is highly educated, and currently being debated! It makes a few changes to the Education Act 1989, including changing funding schemes for tertiary education, how community education may be recognised, and the definition and punishment of falsifying student records. Find out more by clicking the link above!

Taxation (Annual Rates for 2017-18, Employment and Investment Income, and Remedial Matters) Bill

Double déjà vu. This Bill is still aimed at everyone's favourite thing: tax! It aims to modernise, improve, and increase fairness in our taxation system. It will simplify the way in which taxes are collected and penalties are payed, address some GST-related matters, and reduce biases in how incomes from different sources are taxed.
