WEEKLY ROUNDUP: February 12th - February 19th

What we're talking about this week:

Medicinal Cannabis Bill

This amendment bill will un-ban the bong and introduce an exemption for cannabis use for terminally ill people. It will still be a controlled substance, except for cannabinoids which are the compounds with medical benefits. Regulations are also going to be put in place to maintain the dope standards of manufactured and imported products. Follow the link above to have your say!

Teens in Forced Marriages

How do we make sure that fewer teens are at risk of forced marriages? At the moment, 16 and 17 year olds need their parent's permission in order to get married. This bill proposes that 16 and 17 year olds get permission from the Family Court, instead of their parents. Follow the link above to make a submission.

More penalties for supplying explosives for criminal activity

This bill will blow your mind – it’s seeking to increase the max penalty for supplying explosives to commit crime. Currently, you can get a maximum of two years in prison for knowingly providing explosives that will be used for criminal activity. This bill aims to increase it to a max of 5 years in prison. Make a submission if you want to have a say on this explosive topic.
